Description
Research has shown that low levels of ADAMTS13 activity are associated with TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Purpura); a serious life threatening hematological illness characterized by:
» low platelet count,
» microvascular thrombi,
» red cell fragmentation,
» CNS and renal complications.
The acquired form of TTP is an autoimmune-like disorder which is caused by the development of autoantibodies to ADAMTS13. This in turn inhibit the activity. When we measure ADAMTS13 autoantibodies it gives us more information on how to research the acquired TTP and monitoring therapy.
